Hello all.

Im buying all the parts ready to build my first gaming PC this week!

So far i have a £1000 budget and have decided to get these parts:

CPU: i7-4820K 3.7Ghz Quad-Core £249.99
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z87X-D3H £117.55
RAM: Crucial BLE2CP8G3D1869DE1TX0CEU 16GB (£108)
Storage: 256GB (£125)
Storage: Seagate 1TB (£54)
Case: Aerocool Strike-X GT (£49.99)
PSU: Corsair Gaming Series 2013 Edition GS 800W (£80)
GPU: MSI R9 280X (£225)

Can anyone recommend a number of different GPU's for me to choose from? Its important that it works with 3 monitors though.

Thanks so much! :)

In that budget the 280X is probably your best choice in that price range. Nvidia has the 760 but the 280X is on par with the 770 which is around £299.

Hmmm okay which is better the 770 or 280x then? Or is there like no difference?

The 770 has a slight fps edge in 1080p gaming (max 5fps), while the 280X has the edge in 4k gaming. For the price to performance ratio though, the 280X is the best choice. Some games are made to run better on Nvidia/AMD cards though, like Batman games run better with Nvidia, and Battlefield 4 is being optimized for AMD. For the most part you wouldn't be able to tell a difference between the two though.

if you want to stay with 1 gpu in the future, 500w psu is enough.

UPDATE: If you haven't purchased your card already; today, Nvidia dropped prices on their 770 and 780 cards, bringing the 770 to $329 and the 780 to $499. Also, for £64.90 you can get the Noctua NH-D14 CPU Cooler which will perform significantly better than a H60, the D14 is on par with a H100i for a lower price.

Sorry that my currencies are mixed up, I'm not very familiar with pounds.
