Hi,

I currently have 3 monitors on portrait mode at 3240x1920 resolution, using 670 FTW SLI 2GB, but have been reading that more VRAM is better when using multiple monitors.

The new R9 290X rocks 4GB of VRAM and is sitting a pretty good price/performance ratio from the reviews I've read. However with the new 780Ti coming out, the regular 780s are getting a big price cut and has 3GB of VRAM, making it priced a bit more aggressively than the R9 290X.

I was thinking of selling my 2x 670s for ~$500 and putting in the rest of the money from my own pocket to upgrade. Should I upgrade? If so, should I upgrade to the R9 290X or 780?

Well both of the cards are good no doubt about it. But at higher resolution I'd say 290x really shines. I mean not by a mile but it does. The reference cooler is not that good. If you can wait for sometime try getting an non-reference cooler as they'll be hitting the market in November hopefully.

Yeah I read a little bit about the coolers being not that good, and yeah I can wait for the non-reference cards coming, I think that will be what I will do, thank you very much!

So have you tried this out yet? Can you list some benchmarks for me? I know this is really late but you probably have gotten the 290x by now. I was thinking of getting a 290x for my triple monitor setup but I don't know what it can handle...
