I am looking to get some better FPS for BF4 and have a nice set up for future games. I am stuck at what I should upgrade next. I currently run b4 maxed out at bout 50 fp with dips down into the 30 in really intense scenes. I would like to stabilize my fps while future proofing my rig. Any suggestions on what I should do next? Do I really even need to upgrade at this point?

My rig:
AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition (liquid cooling & over clocked to 4.0 ghz)
CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
GIGABYTE GA-990XA-UD3 AM3+ AMD 990X SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
Seagate Barracuda ST320DM000 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache
Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 OC with Boost 3GB DDR5

Any suggestions?

You'd need a new CPU to take advantage of that 7970, since your mobo is compatible with AM3+ CPUs, an overclocked FX 6300 or 8320/8350 would make your life much easier, get a decent cooler with that too.

Nope, just update your bios to the latest version (you need version F13 or later) to support the FX 8350 and you are good to go.

I see you already have a liquid cooler, so you should be fine there.

An SSD would be a good upgrade also - it wont improve the frame rate of your games, but it makes a huge difference to general responsiveness, boot up times and loading times. Then you would have a well sorted pc! :)
