I was just wondering if it's ok to have a hard drive resting on top of another one, as it would make my life a lot lot easier. Will it overheat or something though? Thanks
Yes it can cause heating issues for one. another, if the drives slide at all and the circuit board of the top drive touches the bottom drive casing, it could short out.
Take care of it as soon as you can. Even a sheet of cardboard between them would help and try to point a fan in their direction or move them (while off) so a fan is blowing on them.
What is your problem man ? Set it up properly right now. And vibration is not something to hear is it something to feel by touch. Its not a jet engine its a HDD.
Yes I will do it as soon as possible; I'm not actually using it yet so I don't think its doing anything. The thing is I don't think I have a tray for it, so I am looking for a temporary solution so I can use it in the meantime.
resting it inside of the case on the 5 1/4 bay is better than on another drive. Older cases especially never have enough 3.5 bays, so I always have them laying around inside the case, just not on top of another HD.
