Hello,

I've been playing Battlefield 4 recently and noticed that my CPU usage is jumping from 75-80%. I believe this to be on the verge of a bottleneck, correct me if I'm mistaken.

The CPU is clocked at 4.6GHz and has been since I bought it (just under a year ago). If is the case that I should upgrade, what would you suggest be the best route?

Thanks!

EDIT: rest of the system:
MSI MPower Z77 (I'm well aware if I wanted to upgrade, I would need to swap this out)
16GB DDR3 2400MHz
AMD Radeon R9 290X (Gigabyte)
Corsair 850W PSU
OS: Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit

I really doubt it's worth to upgrade that processor, even not knowing the rest of your build, which you should post in order to receive better advice.

Upgrading will not help you unless you jump to X79 platform and get something like a 3930k/4930k on a X79 MB.

That upgrade will run you something on the order of $700 give or take.

Your 3770k is fine, the 4770k would amount to 1 more FPS typically at 50-60 FPS.

That's a really high end system, as 8350Rocks stated, if you really want to upgrade your processor then you're looking at a X79 platform which will set you back $700-$800, with a performance gain of at most 10 fps for CPU intensive games (like BF4, Crysis 3) and none at all for everything else.

I have an i5-3550 and my CPU usage runs about the same as yours. I really wouldn't worry about it especially since I don't have problems with an inferior CPU.
