Hello there! I am looking to build my first computer. I have never built a computer before, but I have watched some tutorials and done some research, but I'm still a bit confused about what should go into my computer, parts wise.
I am looking at gaming, on games like Magicka, Team Fortress 2, Minecraft, and other games on Steam. I want my computer to play them smoothly, but not necessarily on the highest graphics. As I said, my budget is £500.

My pcpartpicker idea:

Could I have a better part list, and some help as to how to go about building it? And could you recommend a good resource for advice and guides on how to build? Thanks in advance.

You don't need that powerful PSU. Your build would run the same on a 500W PSU, like the Corsair CX500M, saving you £50!!!. You could then spend a bit more on getting some branded RAM and a better motherboard (probably split £30 and £20). Hope this helps!!!

Would be better to spend a bit more on some better RAM, than the PNY value RAM

If the guy is just using Steam or Origin to play his games, there is no need for a CD drive. Besides, they're becoming irrelevant.

But its always handy to have one, just incase. And you would need it for installing your OS
