As the title says, I am looking for some opinions as to what graphics card and monitor combo to get. I have just over a $1K budget to work with, but can go a little over if necessary.
I just sold my Sapphire 7970 Vapor X and Samsung 27" 1080p combo to make way for an upgrade. I have narrowed it down to 2 options but am open to other suggestions.
Option 1 - EVGA 780 Classy ($569.99 Newegg) and Asus PB278Q 2560x1440p Monitor ($429.99 my buddy manages a Staples) = $1,010.00 and I can order that now. Or...
Option 2 - EVGA 780ti ($699.99) and Qnix 2710 Evo II 2560x1440p Monitor ($319.99 eBay or $349.99 Newegg) = no more than $1,050.00... guessing I would have to wait at least a couple of weeks to actually order one, at least on newegg, as all of the 290x's are still out of stock.
I chose the Asus monitor and EVGA cards because I have had quality experiences with their customer service which for me is what counts. I guess the positive for option 1 is get it now and have the reliability of the brand name. Positive of option 2 is having the single fastest GPU out there and could overclock the Qnix to utilize that power... problem is availability on the new card and I have never OC'ed a monitor before.
Please let me know what you would do any why or feel free to suggest something else. Thanks!
