I am planning to build a custom PC for Gaming and virtualization ( VMware )

Here is my build

CPU : Intel Core i7-4770 3.4GHz Quad-Core
CPU Cooler : Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing
Motherboard : Asus Z87-PRO ATX LGA1150
Memory : Corsair Dominator Platinum 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600
Storage : Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM
Video Card : EVGA GeForce GTX 770 4GB
Case : Cooler Master HAF XM (Black) ATX Mid Tower
Power Supply : Corsair 650W ATX12V / EPS12V
Optical Drive : Pioneer BDR-208DBK Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer

Questions : I never build a custom PC before. So I need help deciding if there is anything wrong in these specs from compatibility and reliability point of view. Or, if there is any better and cheaper alternative for one of these specs. Thanks :-)

Everything sounds great, but get an unlocked i7-4770K to OC, and use Corsair Vengeance RAM. Dominator Platinum is overpriced.

here is a beter pc build didnt list a budget so imma just guesstimate

AMD (Preffered):

CPU : AMD FX-9370 Vishera 4.4GHz Socket AM3+
CPU Cooler : not needed this cpu comes with a liquid cooler
Motherboard : MSI 990FXA-GD80 V2 AM3+
Memory : Corsair Dominator Platinum 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600
Storage : Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM
Video Card : crossfire ASUS HD7950-DC2-3GD5-V2 x2
Case : Cooler Master HAF XM (Black) ATX Mid Tower
Power Supply : Rosewill HIVE Series HIVE-750
Optical Drive : Pioneer BDR-208DBK Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer

I prefer the amd build due to the liquid cooling on the cpu ad it cost less on the cpu side so we can add a MUCH better GPU

Intel: keep as is the intel build will be just fine however i will still prefer the amd build but either way you wont have a problem running games 1080p maxed out also the 7950x2 although it is ALOT more powerful if you cant afford it i would just go with the 770

I'm not an Intel or Nvidia fanboy, but a GTX 770 is actually marginally faster than an HD 7970, and a 4770K outperforms the AMD 9370.

I said crossfired 7950 not a single one and yes the intel outperforms but the cpu is cheaper and doesnt need a cpu cooler so the money can go to a better gpu setup also always think gpu>cpu

The 9370 is 20 bucks cheaper. Do 770 or 280x SLI/CFX.

Thanks for you response guys, but I don't think that AMD will work for me, because I will do Virtualization ( VMware ) too. In order to run VM's, I will needs VTx enabled processor which I am not sure if AMD does...

then just stick with your build that you proposed it will run just fine.
