Hi guys,

I feel I need a new GFX for BF4 running @ 1080p..., I'm not worried about maxing out the settings, as I was happy playing BF4 at Medium-High with my 6850 clocked at 920/1100, ran smoothly !

But, I know its taking a hit and will eventually give up, so before it does I thought I should pass it down to someone who could use it for less intensive games, and I want a new gfx card ! :p

I've got the following within my budget, as paying $350-$400 for a graphics card is not sane for my everyday needs... lol

Gigabyte 2GB 7870: $199
Sapphire 2GB 270x: $250~
XFX Radeon 7950: $260~
EVGA 2GB GTX680: $270~
XFX Radeon 7950 Ghz: $280~
ASUS 7950 TOP: $280~
(I don't really want to cross $300, its a psychological thing... :p )

Bottom line is I'm looking for a little value that would last a couple of years like my 6850 did..., was probably one of the best cards I've ever had...

Thanks heaps for any suggestion !

You can get a 680 for $270? go for the 680 :D

The 7950 cards listed will perform better in BF4, but overall the 680 is a fair bit more powerful than the rest of those cards and is on par with a 7970/280x.

Yes but "refurbished" actually checkin the website today its become $289 EVGA 680, then with postage becomes $305, but remember its a refurb...

is it still an ok deal ?, because getting closed to $305 means I can get an XFX 7970 for $319 new...

Not a good deal for a refurb, just get the 7970 for $319, that's a killer deal especially in Australia

Haha yea I know, but for playing 1 game BF4 @ 1080p, is it worth spending more than $250-$280 ? :??:

Here's the link XFX 7970 - $319

Well that card will last you at least 2-3 years at 1080p, so it would be a worthwhile extra $50 over the long term wouldn't it :D

The next best option would be that $260 7950, a few months ago I saw those for $300-400

Thanks Ronald !

I just spotted a new price for the XFX 7950 @ $250~ and the 7970 @ $305, Now I feel I should wait for the 780 ti to release and things might tumble down further... ? This feels like FOREX trading... LOL

Yeah, it's a market haha. The 780 Ti shouldn't shake the prices of these cards too much, it's for the absolute highest end. A 7970 at $305 in Australia is a great price, few months ago they were in the $400s

Hi Ronald, thanks for all your help ! I went all out and bought an MSI Gaming R9-280x OC for $349(was $389), so i hope i got a great deal ! :p

I'm having one issue tho, this HDMI audio is horrible and low quality, how do i disable HDMI audio and only use my Realtek HD audio ? or should i open a new thread to discuss that ? I've got 2 monitors and the best one has HDMI and DVI, but the other only has a DVI&VGA, hence I've got to use HDMI as my main and DVI as the secondary... :(

Or should i just buy a DVI-to-HDMI cord for my main and hope it disables HDMI audio ?

Thanks !

A DVI to HDMI adaptor does not pass audio so that would be a nice way to cheat around the system.

A 280x for $350 is pretty sweet, you could certainly start a new thread and ask about the audio issue, I'm not good with that haha
