I am building a new PC for christmas this year. Price isn't really a consideration but I would like to keep it in the mid $2,000's. So far I have these components picked out:
Corsair RM 850w PSU
i7 4770k (Mild Overclock if Anything)
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus CPU Cooler
Gigabyte z87-UD4H MoBo
WD Caviar Black 7200 rpm 1 TB drive (Already own 256 GB SSD as well)
Corsair Vengeance 1600 LP 16 GB DDR3
Fractal Design R4 w/ Window half tower
Asus PB278Q 1440p monitor
Razer Black Widow Ultimate and Death Adder Keyboard/Mouse
Logitech G930 Headset
5 ProlimaTech blue vortex 14 140mm Case Fans

So to my question...
I'm trying to decide between on the Graphics Card. I have narrowed it down to the GTX 780 and the AMD R9 290. It's hard to tell based on the benchmarks which one is the better card because of the whole fan situation with the R9. I am leaning towards the 780 right now because its got Batman, Assassin's Creed, and Splinter Cell bundled with it. I'm thinking that all of my parts will be order on Black Friday / Cyber Monday from NewEgg.
Should I order the 780 with the game bundle? or do you guys think that the R9 is the better buy because of mantle and AMD's GPU's inside next-gen consoles.

Also I plan on going to X-Fire/SLI at some point as well. I think that the PSU will be able to handle the 2 780's in SLI but the R9 290 seems to consume closer to ~300w which would mean I'd probably want a new PSU.

P.S. If I go for the R9 I'm going to want a custom cooler from Asus/EVGA.
Also Suggestions on Model of GTX 780 would be appreciated. This is what I have picked out

EVGA 03G-P4-3784-KR GeForce GTX 780 3GB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 SLI Support Dual FTW w/ EVGA ACX Cooler Video Card

Thanks for all the help.

Get the EVGA 780. It is slightly faster than the 290 and you get the three free games (which can cover up for the small difference in the price). Also the 290 comes in 4GB of ram which would be useless if you will be using a single monitor setup.

P.S. The EVGA 780 ACX is my top choice for replacing my 580.

I'd like to keep this setup for at least 3 years. Do you think that the X-Fire 290's with 4GB would be better suited for the future than SLI 780's?
Also depending on who was reviewing the cards the 290 was faster than the titan in some cases.

Well I have a GTX580. It was released in 2010 and now its 2013. Three years after I can still play Batman Arkham City in ultra settings WITHOUT any problems. So what I am trying to say is that the 780 will indeed keep your rig power full even after 3-4 years. In my opinion there is no point for SLI/Crossfire X, since as I said a single gpu will keep your rig running beautifully (in terms of graphics) for the next 3 years min. Also dual-gpu configs have microstuttering issues even though NVidia and AMD claim that the new cards have almost eliminated that effect. (Not true)

Hope this helps!

The ti just seems too expensive to me. I could basically go 2 290's in xfire for the price of one OC'ed custom cooled 780 Ti. The Xfire would obviously destroy the Ti on almost everything.

290 for sure. 4gb ram will come in handy in future at your resolution, similar performance to 780, 4gb also useful if going triple monitor in the future. If you hadn't already bought the monitor i would say wait for gsync monitors and go nvidia without a doubt. it would negate any performance defecit as the real world performance of gsync and smoothness as the frames are delivered to your monitor eliminates any stuttering/tearing etc. regardless of frame rate.

2 290s will surely increase your pc temp and that configuration is very noisy...choice is yours

Personally I think 2 x 290's would turn your pc into fan forced oven. One would be plenty and safer.
Have you considered 2 x 770 GTX in SLI?
Cheaper than a 780ti with much more performance without the crossfire and heat issues

What about aftermarket cooling? Do you think the non reference cards are going to do much or will this card just have heat issues. I'm not sure if it makes a difference but my rooms around 62 F and my case has 7 140 mm fans so I've got some decent cooling potential.

Definitely wait for the non reference coolers as they should be much better than the non reference ones, its worth waiting to see how much better the cooling is on them and being quieter
