This is just a prod to see if anyone else experiences greater productivity in 1080p for productivity tasks vs 1440p. I have both a 23'' 1080p IPS monitor (Dell s2340m) and a 27'' 1440p IPS monitor (Dell u2711). Gaming and graphic work are obviously much better on the u2711 (almost 4x as expensive at purchase and for professional graphics applications). But I prefer to do productivity work and web surfing on the 1080p. I feel like it's much easier to keep focused on content without all the extra pixels. In addition, I think web pages look more put together and organized in 1080p. (I am ADHD for the record so I'm curious if that could play a role here)

Does anyone else experience this?

To anyone out their considering the 1440p monitor for gaming, I say go for it. For productivity work, I honestly think the 1080p is much more comfortable. But let's see what other's opinions are.

Thanks in advance!

Solution
This will vary from user to user.

Depending on the programs I have even seem users want LOWER resolution to better see what is on the screen.

I use a 1920 x 1200 screen for just about everything and for me it works great(not too wide).

That sounds like a good size. I think if I were to go back in time I'd plop a professional 24'' 1920x1200 or two down on the desk. Seems like a good combination of size/resolution.
