So I am planning on upgrading but I am unsure of the power requirements for the card. It states on the sapphire website that is needs a 750W psu but I have read that this is not needed. My current specs are as follows(The 560 will be replaced with the r9 280x):

CPU-AMD FX-4100 black edition(with a Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO cooler)
GPU-Zotac 560(with a Arctic accelero twin turbo II)
RAM-Mushkin 8GB DDR3
Motherboard-Asus M5A78L-M/USB3
HDDs- 2TD Western Digital and a 500GB Seagate
Fans-3x120mm, 1x140mm LED
PSU-Cooler master 500W
Optical Drive-Sony Optiarc 24x sata dvd burner

So back to the question, would a Corsair CX600W PSU be good enough to power my system without any problems?

Hi - you read correctly, a quality 600w PSU will run that system with an R9 280x, and yes the cx600 will run it.

It will run it , but there are better options than the CX600.

Yes it will but I suggest you get a SeaSonic 650W bronze.

By saying there are better options, do you mean that this psu will struggle to keep up?

It's a budget PSU , but it will run your components.
