I am building a budget HTPC and gaming rig, It's been years since I built my own computer, so I'd love any advice!

Here's what I have picked out so far:
CPU: AMD FX-6300 Black Ed.
GPU: MSI Radeon HD-7870 2GB
MoBo: MSI 970A-G46 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0073JYZ48/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
Case: nMediaPC 6000B http://
PS: Thermaltake TR2 500W
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1600
Opt D: Pioneer SATA Internal BD/DVD/CD Burner with 4 MB Buffer BDR-208DBK
Storage: Seagate 1 TB Solid State Hybrid Drive SATA 6 GB

I want a case which lays flat, as a tower won't really fit in the space I have, so please no recommendations for tower cases. The above parts, plus a copy of Windows, and I'm sliding in just under $800. I could go a bit over that price, but not by much. Is this the best configuration for the money I have to spend? I'll be watching blu-rays, streaming videos, and movies from HDD. Will be playing games like Skyrim. I could spend a bit more on a mobo, but it seems like this board has everything i need, and should support the 6300 fine. Would it be worth the money to get a GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 mobo instead? Or would i just wasting the extra $40? Should I get some better/extra fans for the case? Will i need an aftermarket cooler for cpu if I'm just running at stock speed? I'd love some help with this!
