Click your profile name at the top right, select "Manage my profile", once loaded on the left select "My personal info" that page will show avatar settings.

Seems like I can only place pictures/gifs under 670 kb or something, make sense??

EDIT:.. when I try to upload 500 kb gifs, I get this:
Files over 100px wide not allowed ??
WTH?

You just need to resize your image, its not done auto so you need to set it to be 100x100 I assume, imgur should allow you to resize(unsure about gifs though).

There is a resizer, change any image to the sizes you want.

I tried resizing using this tool, but it seems to stop the gif motion effect.

I mean, that no matter what GIF I put now, it keeps giving me the same image (look at my avatar).
I think it is this known bug:

any fix?

Seems you need to upload a diffent file type, JPEG for example, then after try again with your GIF.

Good advice so far by fellow users. It might also help if you rename your file to something else. Sometimes overwriting the avatar upload doesn't work quite right, and you need to rename your file locally to have it take effect before uploading.

Not working so far, I tried changing it to a JPEG image instead, it worked, but when I try to change it back to the GIF, it brings back the same old picture - that I didn't want to use....

EDIT: WAIT, something worked!!! I have done 3 things:

1) I tried changing the picture's name, after uploading it and using the resizer. This time it worked.
2) Also, I used Internet Explorer 11 - in full screen mode (via the start screen) and not in desktop mode 3) + I restarted the system.

I am afraid I can't confirm exactly which of the 3 actions contributed to this success, since "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" - I rather not touch it anymore...

Kudus!!! we have a floating EIN!!!
