Hello, I'm very new with the electronics scene when it comes to Black Friday. I'm looking to either buy a new computer or build one during the sale time and was wondering, is there a big difference in prices when sales are ongoing compared to when it's not? Like I said.. Very new to the scene with electronics when sales are going on.

But mainly, would like to know if I'd get a better deal with parts or a computer as a whole. I am looking to buy a gaming computer with a budget of around $500-600.

And what exactly is Cyber Monday? Better deals than Black Friday I'm assuming?

Any insight and information would be greatly appreciated.

Generally, you won't get to pick and choose the exact parts you want during those sales, so you have to make due with what you find, or mix and match sale vs retail.

But in almost every instance, building a PC will be cheaper than buying a prebuilt one, assuming equivalent parts. You also don't get the best (or even great) parts when you buy prebuilt.

Black Friday is the retail, brick and mortar, sale. Whereas Cyber Monday is just the internet equivalent of Black Friday. But sales from both days often drag on few days after.

I was torn with the same thing. I had my system picked out for parts, and was debating to build it, or wait for the end of the month deals. I looked up last years black friday/cyber monday fliers for Canada to see what the deals were, and it seemed to be a few great deals on select items. Yes, this certain RAM was 60% off, but if I didn't want that RAM, I would save anything. As said above, you're limited to what they decide to put on sale, probably older stock, items that don't sell, etc. I said screw it and built my system last week. I'll try piecing it together on cyber monday to see if I would saved much or did good. lol.

I've been wondering the same thing. Not sure if it pays to wait or not. I already bought my power supply, windows 8.1, and a 1T HDD from Black November sales and email deals though. And got like 45 dollars off a 260 dollar order.

Ya, I see it as if you want a tv or need a new fridge, you can get some good deals. If you want an exact TV model or exact fridge, it's hit or miss if that one will be on sale. Same with PC stuff. If you want to build a pc and you're flexible on brands, and what you get, you could probably get some good deals. If you're a set ASUS person, or want this exact motherboard, ram, GPU, odd's are lower that they will be on sale for anything great.

Thanks for all the input! I appreciate it.. Now I'm just deciding if I should wait or not haha. It's mainly because I'm on a tight budget so it's like ehh.. not too sure
