Im building my 1st PC ever and have come up with these part so far:

CPU: Intel Core i5 4670K Quad Core Retail CPU Socket 1150, 3.40GHz, 6MB, Haswell,
Motherboard: Asus Z87-A USB 3.0 Motherboard
SSD: Kingston Technology HyperX 3K 2.5-inch 120GB SSD OR Samsung 840 Series 120GB 2.5 inch SATA Solid State Drive
RAM: Kingston Technology HyperX DDR3 1600MHz CL9 8GB DIMM Memory Module (Kit of 2)
HDD: Western Digital 1TB internal Hard Drive
GPU: Nvidia Asus GeForce GTX 770
Cooler: Corsair h60 hydro series or cooler seidon 120m
Power supply: Corsair (not sure watts yet!)

Still working on cases and other stuff. Would just like your input on what I have soo far, especially the motherboard and any suggestions for better parts.

Fractal Design R3 or R4 will are good and comfortable to working.

Socket 2011 - with this platform you will be able to take full use of 2-SLI/CF-setup which is good if you decide to add a second. The psu will last you a long time.
