Hi guys,
I'm a musician and I'm looking to setup a small studio, but I'd still like to be able to play the occasional game and watch 3d 1080p movies, but for the sake of recording, I really don't want my GPU to have a fan, but only a heat sink to get it as quiet as possible. I'm actually putting together a custom computer too, so I'm looking to make the quietest computer possible, but obviously I'd like it to be reliable too.

Any help, feedback you guys could give would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Daibhidh.

p.s. For laughs, this is what I'm trying to avoid. :p

well, whats your price range?
on the extreme you have something like this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130947
a EVGA GeForce GTX 770 4GB that gets hooked up to a liquid cooler

on the other end... and way more affordable you have an intergrated solution like this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113331
an AMD A10-6800K

This 'APU' has enough muscle to beat any passively cooled card that you'll find

They do have some fanless cards like this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102950
a SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 6670 1GB but i'm not sure its worth your while.

Thanks for the reply.

My price range for the GPU is between 180-320.
I should say having a heat sink is not a must, I'm just out of touch with the current non-fan advances in CPU technology.

For the computer, I'm looking between $1100-1400

The motherboard needs at least two PCI slots as I've got some old hardware I want to keep.

When you said "but i'm not sure" the SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 6670 1GB is "worth your while," what did you mean? And what is its performance like compared with the intergrated AMD A10-6800K option?
