Hello. My question is which graphics card I should go with that will give me the best performance for what im going to be doing. Im a Hardcore gamer and will also be doing some Game Development using the cryengine, unreal engine and others. I will be rendering videos as well so im going to be SLI or Crossfire later pending on the card, The two cards im looking at are EVGA GeForce GTX 770 FTW or Classified 4GB and ASUS Radeon R9 280x 3GB

More about : amd nvidia

You can't choose one over the other. Technology changes too fast, and AMD or Nvidia will always be toppling over each other throughout the years. My opinion: SLI is somewhat better, AMD has the best performance to price ratio, Nvidia probably will always have the SLIGHTLY more powerful cards now and then, and AMD is always bringing new tech into their products. and both those cards are high-end to the point where the performance doesn't even really matter.

If I were to pick, it would be the 280X just simply because the Price to Performance ratio is beyond great. However, if you're power hungry, go with the Nvidia choice.

well latley CF is perfect and has been a long time for me. AMD nearly always has better Price/performance and will vouch the TahitiXT chip (7970/280x) overclocks tremendusly i've had my bone reference cards with waterblocks now OC'd to 1300/1725 and scored just over 18,100pts on Firestrike. Being an AMD fan i will try to give all nVidia facts. nVidia has great technoligies in their cards IE: Physx, Shadow Play, TXAA, GPU GRID, Shield Streaming and with those features comes a heavy price. before AMD released the 290(x) the reference GTX 780 was $650 and aftermarket ones costing up to $900 so if AMD doesn't keep them in check with price say goodbye to alot of $.

The way you should chose is will you use most or even half of those technologies? Do you have endless pockets? Do you Overclock? (Radeon normally OC better) Do you plan to resell them when you upgrade? Do you play mostly AMD or Nvidia based games with Physx or TXAA?
