Is it normal to be getting 35fps at the lowest settings with 2xHD7870's at 1280x720!!!!!
i think its just driver problems, hopefully AMD will fix it soon, or Ubisoft will bring out an update.

So, How much FPS are you guys getting soo far?

Catalyst Version 13.11 good enough?
I have 2x Sapphire HD7870's, any other drivers i should be looking at?
I have a 1080p monitor but the low fps is just annoying.

I do have the latest drivers. Getting the latest version of Catalyst is getting the latest drivers, right?
but i did download the ACBF update, and now im getting 45fps on ultra, AA off, AO off.

This game is very poorly optimized. Theyve said it on many other sites now. A lot of people are having fps issues that shouldnt be there. You are not alone.

Amd doesnt have crossfire support for the game yet. If you want to utilize both cards, youre going to have to go to catalyst control centre, click the gaming tab, click the crossfire tab, and check the box that says enable amd crossfirex for applications that have no associated application profile. You're not going to see much of a performance improvement at this point, you might see 60-70% usage on both cards, but that may improve when better drivers, and game updates release.

Yep. I have a 4GB 770 and I'm barely pulling 60. I get 100 in BF4 on Ultra.

Bumping down the graphics to high settings, etc. had literally no effect on FPS. Driver issue for sure.

This game is even Nvidia optimized... Though the "optimizing" seems to be missing.

1080p. To be honest, it varies between about 90-100.

Specific settings to achieve this are custom, all ultra, MSAA x2, post proc medium (these 2 are key - they each impacted about 10FPS for me) and 100% resolution scaling.

The key factor I found was finding the right balance between SSAO/HBAO, etc. (I use SSAO), and MSAA settings.

In comparison, others with my same setup using a 2GB 770 are not able to hit this high. VRAM usage is around 3.6GB on my card, so this is clearly a factor on some people's rigs.

The other issue I found when helping those on the BF forum is that people didn't change any default settings in their driver.

The default Nvidia driver is set to throttle the card to save on power usage. Depending on the game, you'll see ~5% better performance under load if you turn this to maximum performance. Some have reporte that enabling triple buffering resulted in better FPS, but I can't say I could tell a difference.

My rig is now in my sig if you want comparison info. I haven't added my SSD but I had this FPS prior to adding it anyway. My 3570k is at 4.5GHz. Note that's I'm also using a Seagate hybrid drive; this reduces access times significantly. Those who think this doesn't matter in games aren't considering the time it takes the card to queue up textures from the hard drive. This will impact performance and this can be seen in my 3DMark scores when moving from a WD Blue to the SSHD. There were over 100 pts difference.

I'm pretty much stuck at 30 fps 90% of the time in Assassins Creed 4, turning off vsync makes a pretty good difference but I can't stand the screen tearing.
I have a 2gb 770 and get about 70-80fps on battlefield 4 as well. My VRAM is totally maxed out, it seems like the game will use more VRAM but it doesn't make a whole lot of difference, in fps anyway, i notice mine is a bit more likely to stutter than my friends rig.

Yeah, the weird thing is I'll get 60-70 w/out Vsync, but the screen tearing is stupid bad. In BF I'll hit 120+ on the Test Range and 90-100 on MP but never any screen tearing and I have a 60Hz monitor. It's odd.

My first clue it was an optimization issue was the fact that going from maxed settings to high and MSAA x2 basically did nothing, maybe 2FPS difference. That's just wrong; something needs to be tweaked.

Looks good, overall, though.

Yea my brother played the game on PS3 and they threw like a cartoon filter on it or something. It looks a lot better on PC, and at the few part I do hit 60 fps the motion blurring looks really good and smooth. Best use of motion blurring so far I think.

Mate even I'm getting 70-100fps on BF4 maxed out 1920x1080 all ultra, no vsync. and I'm on a GTX670 top clocked at 1190 and CPU is an ancient Q9650@4.07ghz.

All you have to do is set the res scale to 90% and turn deferred anti alias off, everyone turns that off.

AC4 runs great maxed the only problem is the fps is variable depending on a particular instance I start the game.

The Havana level where you start with your back to the ship sometimes it loads up at 45fps sometimes at 39 and I cant figure out why. The voltage on the video card is constant. There is no throttling in temperature either (under 69c always). NViDIA CP at max performance, single display ofcourse.

That is AC4 all maxed out (yes even HBAO maxed out) no vsync and only 2xTXAA though.

I cant figure out the fluctuation.

I've run it on:
System specs:
Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0
AMD FX-8350 Black (OC'd to 8x 4.6ghz)
16gb Corsair Vengeance
EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti SC
120GB Kingston Hyper-X 3k
Corsair H80i
Corsair 750w
3x Asus VS248H-P (24 inch, 60hz, 1080p)

Switching out GPU's as I am looking to upgrade. So far the best performance was under the 780Ti. Alternatively I have played it with the following in place of the 780ti:
2x Crossfired 7970's
2x Crossfired 7870's
1x 7870
1x 290x

All of them tend to get around 30-35fps MAX in cities (780ti manages 40), I am not sure why. 60fps steady out on the sea. All settings maxed.

Mate how can you get 35 fps in cities on a 780Ti when I'm telling you the Havana level loads up at 45fps for me on a GTX 670 & Q9650

Thats everything maxed out with vsync off and only 2xTXAA instead of 4x. 1920x1080 + latest geforce drivers.

Poorly optimized? Do your research first. Nvidia and Ubisoft built this game for PC it's not even a port. Infact PS4 and XB1 are ports of the PC version.

Back to topic. Im currently using a Radeon 5770. Everything on low except Environment quality is on normal. My fps stands as:

Done at: 1920 X 1080

In Cities: 30-48 fps(With rain: 30-40fps)
Islands with tons of foliage:20-30fps(with rain: 18-25fps)
Islands mostly with builds: 25-35fps(With rain: roughly the same)
The open sea: 40-60fps(With rain: 35-45fps)

It seems the foliage and rain are the real FPS killers in the game. Yet in terms of optimization this game has done a job well done even for a '09 card its more than playable.

Reasons for your low fps despite having a high end card is the lack of update for you guys. Aswell as updates for the game itself.

AMD doesn't support drivers for low-end cards like mine anymore so I haven't had an update since 2011.
This is just my theory though.

My conclusion.. wait it out a bit, wait for AMD and Nvidia to release proper drivers aswell as Ubisoft to release updates for the game itself. For those in SLI try using a single card

there's nothing wrong with the optimization its just the game is capped at 60fps. You having 63 fps you probably should be experiencing slight tearing.

Have you guys never played LA noire for PC? the game was capped at 30 fps no matter what card you had

Just because a GPU has better benchmarks doesn't mean it will work better in a given game. As I said, I keep EVERYTHING maxed. Lowering to 2x TXAA and turning down fog / rays gives me ~50 in Havana.

I have seen nothing definitively stating this game is capped, but I believe there is no other answer.

There must be a way to bypass this using the config.

Just because a game isn't a port doesn't mean it can't be optimized.

There are basically 3 primary forms of optimization, aside from patches that fix issues:

1) DX optimization. Affects any DirectX card as long as it supports the version optimized.

2) AMD specific optimization, utilizing AMD-only features.

3) Nvidia optimization, utilizing Nvidia-only features.

What we're talking about is #1. The game is running okay, but not fantastic on cards that should be smoking it. ~35FPS on Vsync on a 780Ti is not normal.

I can max the game (except shadows - left it on high) @60FPS on a 770 4GB. But it keeps trying to go above 60, hits 62 and drops back down to 60, so it's capped, too.

Have you guys even played the game? Game is poorly optimized. Period.
Mine runs @ 40-50 avg. Drops to 30s in areas with lots of vegetation, which seems to be the most demanding part in the graphics (which I hard is cpu based?)
I have all on max except TXAAx2 + God rays to low.

after switching to surround and turning on my AA I found the game runs smoother and doesnt cause screen tearing at 45-60fps. Dude was right anything over 60 causes tearing.

edit: this game will never be as poorly optimized as freaking ARMA.
