Hi,
I am planning to build a budget desktop. After extensive search i came up with a configuration, but i still have a doubt regarding the compatibility so please suggest me whether my following configuration is compatible and i am also confused whether to choose Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 Motherboard or Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3 Motherboard.

My config:

Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 Motherboard/Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3
Amd processor Fx 6300

Cooler Master Chassis CMP 250 Cabinet

Hi,

Out of the two motherboards which you have selected the best choice would be the 'GIGABYTE GA-970A-DS3' it offers a range of more features and would be better in the long run

The 'GIGABYTE GA-970A-DS3' also supports the AMD FX 6300 although both of the motherboards which you selected may require a BIOS update in order for the CPU's to actually work (This will require you to get a CPU which is supported and insert that to update the BIOS)

I would recommend the 'ASRock 970 Extreme3 R2.0'
HERE
This motherboard will support the AMD FX 6300 without a BIOS update

It supports

- Dual Channel DDR3 memory technology
- 4 x DDR3 DIMM slots
- Supports DDR3 2100(OC)/1866*/1800*/1600*/1333/1066/800 non-ECC, un-buffered...

- Max. capacity of system memory: 64GB**

Therefore your RAM will be compatible

HERE is some more information about the motherboard

HERE is the Motherboard CPU Support List, as you can see the FX 6300 is supported on all BIOS versions

I would also recommend that you get an AMD Graphics Card over Nvidia if you are going to be doing CrossFireX in the future as the motherboard does not support SLI but if your only going to be running one card then your fine :)

Hi,
Thanks for the recommendation, I also have the following ASUS M5A78L-M/U3 Motherboard in mind so what do you think is it a good one will it be ok with FX6300.

Should be compatible as from what I have heard after September 2012 all of the motherboards of that type shipped with the new BIOS version which is compatible with the FX 6300, but in the unlikely event that you get an older one before September 2012 then your out of luck :(

Give it a try :)

(Or go for the one that I chose)
