Hey all,

I have a simple question that I couldn't really find a direct answer for.

Does it benefit to plug your dual monitor set up in a way so that your "non gaming monitor" is connected to the integrated graphics [motherboard] ports while your "gaming monitor" is plugged into the discrete GPU ports?

I know it is possible to use both the discrete and integrated at the same time; how ever does this have any positive impact on performance for the discrete card? Does it somehow allocate whatever processes would have been on the discrete GPU to the integrated GPU?

Lets say I wanted to play an epsisode of some show via media player or even on netflix on my non gaming monitor while I play Borderlands 2 on my gaming monitor.

Would it be beneficial for me to connect my non gaming monitor to the integrated GPU and my gaming to the discrete GPU in that case?

Specs are as follows if needed:

CPU: 3.3 Ghz Intel i5-2500K
MB: BIOSTAR TZ68K+
RAM: 16 GB G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series DDR3 1866
GPU: MSI R7870 2GB GDDR5
HD: 256GB - SSD [8TB Internal Storage]

Ask away if you need any other info.

Thanks in advance!
