Question about cables for a 144/120hz monitor

So i'm about to purchase a Asus VG248QE . Clocking in at 144hz . I already have a monitor, just a normal one so this one would be used on the side while i'm gaming or something. But this monitor uses the dvi d dual link port already. (Using a gtx 660 btw ) So i see the port beside the hdmi port which i'm 99 % sure its a display port. btw can someone confirm if it is ?

So if it is a display port . I was wondering if i hook up my asus monitor via the display port . Will i be able to get the 144 hz? I dont really care about 3d

Are you asking if you can use a DisplayPort output on the GPU to connect to a DisplayPort input on a monitor?

I'm pretty sure that's a yes.

But will that display port carry 144 hz? Because i know dvi does but thats occupied by another monitor
