i have a home build desktop that my bosses kid made couple years ago and since then ive lerned the basics of computer internals and how they work?etc, well ive noticed day by day that my comp cant hack it anymore and its in need of some help. constantly i have to watch the cpu temp because its runs at 70c to 90c+ full load and i know thats not the greatest. ive tried re apllying thermal grease to the heatsink following this forum and it would be idle around 50/65c to 75/85c max load. could have to do with the giant case fan ...i also think its underpowered at points because the heatsink fan looks like it struggles to stay spinning. that being said i use the computer for school and side work. i run photoshop cs6, autocad 2014, draft sight, sketchbook pro 6.2.4 and solidworks 2012. im stuck between just upgrading a couple parts( what to upgrade/compatiability) or if i should look into selling this one and starting a new build since its dated... ill post my original list from newegg.com and its running on windows 7 pro 64bit

Looks like a work-horse still for what you do. Try getting a better CPU cooler. Maybe:

CNPS8900 Quiet http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0077POH8M/?tag=pcpapi-20 for a quiet and low profile solution (if your case has limitations) or a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus http://www.outletpc.com/wg3291.html?utm_source=wg3291&u... for a bigger more powerful solution. Or you can try a Zalman CNPS5X http://www.mwave.com/mwave/skusearch.asp?px=CJ&scriteri... if you want a cheaper option.

Nope, you just plug it in to the 4-pin fan mount on the motherboard. I'd even go as far to say that no one should use a stock cooler for any CPU. Aftermarket solutions cost as little as $10 and can extend the life and performance of the CPU way beyond the stock cooler. After all, CPU companies make CPUs, they don't specialize in cooling solutions so they just include something basic.
