Help me find my bottleneck please.

So, I put together a pretty solid computer-- or so I thought. Everything I have should allow me to run my games on ultra / max settings without struggle. But for some reason, I just can not run at a stable 60 fps. In heaven, my highest score was 1055.

My hardware is as follows:
CPU: Intel core i7 2700k. at 4521.82MHz.
Motherboard:Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H-B3.
Memory: PC3-12800, Gskill F3-17000CL11-4GBZL (2133 MHz it should be)
GPU: Nvidia GeFroce 670 GTX 2GB. ( I turned down a stable overclock because the fan was getting so loud)
Corsair TX750M PSU. (could my PSU be the issue?)
OCZ-Agility3 120GB SSD (I'm not sure how to optimize the SSD to raid 0)
1 terabyte standard hard disk for storage.

My CPU is liquid cooled.

I should not, in my own opinion, get any framerate below 60. I do not understand why I am getting crappy fps in rift (Which I just started playing again) when before on my old crappy pc, I could run at max settings and get a constant 60 fps.

Please help me out. Is there a setting that is selected that bottlenecks me?
Is my onboard graphics enabled?

Memory: PC3-12800, Gskill F3-17000CL11-4GBZL I assume you only have one stick installed, it could be that the Pc is running in single channel mode and will slow down the system somewhat.

The Nvidia GeFroce 670 GTX 2GB also have an EVGA model, make sure that you have the proper drivers pertaining to your specific brand, some sub-contractor manufacturers do change the clock ratio to suit their own brand name, you'd need to download the drivers from the EVGA site rather than Nvidia direct, if that is the case. The video card does require 2 x 6 pin power connections, 2 cards would need 4 x 4 pin connectors, make sure you are actually uing the PCI-e connectors, forgoing a connector would reduce the frame rate and cause the fans to be noisy.

I have 4 sticks installed, and I believe it is in duel channel mode. I'll check my bios.

I have an asus 670 GTX, I use the GeForce experience to download my drivers. So I should download from Asus?

I grabbed my hardware and had a memoryexpress build my computer for me. I assume they used the correct connectors for my video card.

Just checked my bios. Came across a PCI option. I only had PCI selected-- Not PCI-E-16x! Could that have been an issue?

I am definitely in dual, checked my CPU-Z. I thought my mobo supported quad, guess I read wrong.

So, my ram is quad channel, will that be my main issue?

If you are using quad channel ram, you can use a pair and utiize dual channel mode but only if the brand supports that mode otherwise they may only conform to single mode for each module (stick). Check the GSkill site as to whether they actually are quad cannel ram, you might have to purchase dual channel ram if the case is confirmed.

You'd best use the drivers from Asus even though they may be identical to the Nvidia site, Asus does include an Asus Header that might be required by the utility.

Yeah, it's definitely quad channel and I will be fixing that.
I am switching to asus drivers now.

Just curious, can I download the asus drivers and then install them overtop of my nvidia drivers, and then uninstall? I have never installed a different set of video drivers over another set, hence the question.

My understanding is I download the drivers, run safe mode, uninstall, then reinstall?

Yes, go to safe mode and uninstall the Nvidia drivers, resart, nd you end up with Windows Safe Mode Video drivers and then you install the Asus drivers. Better to use VGA Safe mode prior to installing,there are always temp files of previous drivers that might corrupt the new install.

Okay, so the asus drivers are not asus, and they're just nvidia drivers?
Even on the asus website, I get the same drivers I would get from nvidia?
Also, I uninstalled and reinstalled, and I still get crappy frame rate.

What else could it be? I should be getting flawless FPS with my system.

I was getting poor frame rate, so it was then when I over clocked. Stock speeds were giving me crappy frame rate, so I OC'd, with a very small improvement by about 5 fps.

Same for my CPU, it was just hanging out at 3.5xx, so I OC'd it at the same time as my GPU. My OC's are stable, but the frame rate in Rift is just horrible. It seems like the only game after just testing, that has bad FPS is Rift!

maybe it's the game itself?

Yeah, my games are on my SSD. Everything else that isn't related is on my 1TB HD. Drivers and etc are on the SSD

I don't know how to raid 0, I am running AHCI . I'd like to get into raid 0 one day for the performance. But just not yet, I have a lot of school to do so the free time to learn is not handy.

How would my SSD bottleneck? That is crazy! I used to run my games from the HDD, but they were incredibly choppy and laggy. I will try anything, so I'll copy rift to my HDD and see where that gets me!

How can I fix my SSD to make sure it does not bottleneck my system? Raid 0 it?

Just a thought, check the power cable arrangement, make sure the ssd is on its own cable line from the PSU and not coupled with any other device. Make sure that you ater not using molex joiners or connectors for anything including the fans. The fans should only be powered by the motherboard connectors, don't use molex connected fans, they are only for older motherboards pre-2004.

Using molex connectors can divert power away from one device to the other and while there may only be a slight decrease in allocation, you will notice the drain away from the GPU/video card causing the drop in frame rates.
