Current CPU - FX-4100
Graphics card HD 7870 (ordered a gtx 760, coming today)
8gb ram 64 bit windows 7
Games: World of tanks and Guild wars 2
bios is updated, so are video card drivers

Long story short i bought a HD 7870 - fps was the same as my 4870 in all games if not a little worse so i checked with msi monitor the gpu usage and only getting 50-60% usage.
My belief is its the cpu- as i overclocked it to 4.2ghz and i gained 10-30 fps on average. Or could there be something else wrong all together?

What are my choice's on a cpu upgrade: I can get a 8320 for $150 bucks and not have to replace the mother bored, or go with a i5 and new mother bored for around $280.

What is the best option for the money?

buy the 8320 and OC it a little and enjoy. Not worth the upgrade to a I5 when you already have an OC capable am3+ board on hand, do remember to update the bios BEFORE you change processors as the board might not have the setup for the X3XX series processors on it as it sits.

What CTurbo said. Those would probably be the best bang-for-your-buck investments.

Other than that, if you have a solid mobo and cooling solution, you could try overclocking a bit more.

I am currently looking into a 8320, i was hoping i would get that response because i really didn't want to buy a new mobo already 2. Far as to keep overclocking it, i would have to spend 50 -+ on a cooling system or 150 and better processor so kinda ruled that out already

Thanks guys!
