Greetings from Canada!
I decided to go out on a limb and build my first PC just in time for the Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals. Due to my complete lack of computer experience and knowledge, I had to rely on other posts and forums in order to get a feel for the PC part picking world. Believe me, I became overwhelmed very quickly. After much struggle I came up with this build for around $1000.
Link: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/2aN9T
-CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K
-CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
-Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-V LX ATX LGA1155 Motherboard
-Memory: Corsair Vengeance LP (2 x 4GB) DDR3
-Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM
-Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 7970
-Case: Thermaltake VP300A5W2N
-Power Supply: Corsair Enthusiast 650W
-Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST
Total: $1068.24
I'm pretty sure all parts are compatible as I ran them by my techy brother and he give me the ok. The only two parts I am wondering about are the Video Card. (Should I go for the Radeon HD 7970 or the Radeon 7870 for the lower price.) As well as the case because the number of types and features confuses me. Do you think ill have enough room for the components selected. Also I don't plan on overclocking so is there anything I could do to the build to reduce the price? Will the rest of the components mesh together nicely?
If you could give me any opinions or suggestions about the build would be greatly appreciated.

yeah that looks good. your GPU is better than mine is lol. mines the 7870. its alright, but yours is better! one thing i personally dont think youll need is that cpu cooler, if youre not going to OC then its wasted money IMO. you could get an SSD. makes a ton of difference! SSD for the OS and HDD for misc files. If i an going to get an SSD what size should it be? Would I be able to reduce the size of my hard drive to compensate? Also, would I only be putting my OS on it, because I heard somewhere that people like to put a few of their favourite games on a SSD as well.
Thanks
