Hi All

I am in a real dilemma here - I am getting an I7 3770 for a throw away price - almost half the price of i5 4670k. Is it worth buying this i7? Will i7 handle all games effortlessly without the need for OCing?

My current system specs are as below.

AMD Phenom X4 II 955 @ 3.7 Ghz
HD 7970 Ghz Vapor X
ASUS M4N72-E MOBO
6GB DDR2 - 3 x 2GB
Noctua NHU12P Cooler
CM Silent Pro 600W
CM 690 Mid Tower
AOC - 27" 1080p

The PC is mainly for gaming, but I may also install SOlaris / Weblogic / Oracle DB on it for work and studies.

please advice.

regards
Rangs

I suggest going with i5 4670K. This way you can be sure that new line of processors would still be compatible to your build. the 5th generation cpus(broadwell) will be using the same socket as the 4th generations. Just my 2 cents.

Goodluck :)

Sandy Bridge are good overclockers. Although Haswells not very much.

Thanks mate. I guess I will go with i5. Any suggestions on the mobo for i5? I will do medium OC. The place where I live in, the room temp itself will be 35C plus!!! I have never had a stable overclock on my Phenom 955.

P.S. The i7 got sold because of the delay in my response :) Lol

You could go with.

or

Asus Motherboard Z87 PRO or PLUS is a very good motherboard for the i5 4670k for that budget. :)

Thanks for that, but I think I gave you a wrong budget :( I messed up in conversion! I live in India and the normal conversion I use for US price is (price-in-$ x local-currency-value + (20% of total converted value)). This formula went for a total toss because the price of those 2 MBs here is double the cost in the US!!

My revised budget is <130$ :( Sorry. Please help. Also, the budget in INR is <13000

I am not able to find this button at all mate!! Many people are complaining that it is moved to a different part...! Where is it? Also, when I reply to your meassge, it says "Your Solution". Something is wrong with this web page.
