GPU to run 3x 1440p monitors and 3x 1080p monitors

Hello,

I want to run 3x monitors @ 1440p and 3x monitors @ 1080p, no gaming though, trading-related work only.

I think I need Displayport or Dual-Link DVI-D for the 1440p, correct ?

Could I use 2 GPUs to fit that 6-monitor combo ? I am looking for the most efficient and cost-effective way.

At the moment, I have a GTX 660 which seems to have a DP and Dual-Link for the 1440p.

If you need additional information, please do not hesitate to ask.

You will need a freak of a video card, something like this one.

Probably the most expensive 7870 I've ever seen. Not particularly powerful but hey it gets the job done.

Same can be done with two ordinary video cards, that can run 3 monitors each. Probably cheaper that way, but I'm lazy to look for cards

If your 660 can handle 3 monitors, maybe just get another one?

The only thing I can't verify for now with the 660 is if it can handle 2 monitors at 1440p and one at 1080p (reason being the 1440p's are on their way).

The resolution shouldn't be a problem. What's more important is if it can run 3 monitors at all. It probably can.

Guess you'll find out when you get the monitors.

I could probably make 2 complete systems that gets the same thing done with the cost of that FirePro...

Alternative to the FirePro (workstation GPU's are terribly expensive). You use 2x the same GPU out of SLI / Crossfire. This would be 3 monitors per GPU, in that case you could mix and match the high res with the lower res on each card.

My suggestion would be 2x 770 4gb cards, as I said, not in SLI, running 3 monitors off each separately.

Ok, so the card does not have to "work" much harder if it's 1440-1440-1080 compared to the 1080-1080-1080 it's doing right now ? (no gaming consideration obviously)

That's a very good point I forgot to ask about, how does the memory size affect the card with regards to running multiple monitors ? Right now my 660 has 2gb and as I mentioned it runs 3x 1080p.

You don't need the extra vram if your doing just trading stuff...

It's not like your running a game that has to load all those textures and have a large framebuffer.

You're looking at what, charts and figures and spreadsheets. All at desktop refresh rate of 60Hz.

Indeed, charts, fast scrolling numbers, trading platforms, and a lot of browser-type-stuff. I think 60Hz is all I need, unless there's any benefit to going higher that I'm unaware of
