Hey all,
I'm building a small research cluster for my university, with a budget of around $600,000, which is not a lot, but nontrivial at the same time.
Is there any place I should go to if I were purchasing parts in bulk of around 60~200 units each, besides your typical retailers (Newegg, Amazon)? Specifically, I'm looking to buy mainly Intel Xeon processors, Samsung ECC registered memory and WD nearline SAS drives.
I know where to go if I were buying in quantities of 10^3~, and a retail store would be impossible to beat if I were buying in quantities of 10^1~, but where would you go if you were the IT department of a university, small business, etc. and shopping around for 10^2~ units?
Thanks!
