My z77 Gigabyte Z77-D3H is dying so i'm looking at updating to the z87 mobos. But i'm torn between these 3 boards.
Currently i'm running:
i7 3770K CPU
8Gb (2x4gb) DDR3 1066 RAM G.Skill
240Gb Intel SSD
3Tb WD Green HDD
3Tb Toshiba HDD
ATI Radeon HD 7950 OC 3gb gfx card
3 x 27" Monitors

But i will be upgrading to:
i7 4770K CPU
16Gb (2x8gb) DDR3 2400 Ram Corsair Vengeance Pro
ATI Radeon R9 280x (second card in crossfire)

But i really am stuck on which mobo to buy. All of the 3 have been getting excellent reviews. But which would be best for my setup. I'm not much of a overclocker, so i don't really want to pay a lot of money for lots of overclocking features.
I live in Australia and all these boards are under $300

If you are upgrading to Z87 mobos you need to upgrade your CPU to Haswell too beacause Z87 mobos are socket 1150 while your current mobo is socket 1155.
If you OC your build you need a Z87 mobo + 4770k + after market fan.
If you don't OC your build you need a H87 mobo + 4770 and save money.

Which asus and asrock models are you considering?
BTW, I would go for a GA-Z87X-UD5H

GA-Z87X-UD5H > Asus z87 > Asrock Z87

Haswell supports up to DDR3 1600 RAM. Don't wast your money for a 2400 RAM

Hi aqua_q thank you for your reply. I meant to put the full asus mobo in the title but forgot the "pro"
The Asus board is the Z87 Pro http://www.asus.com/au/Motherboards/Z87PRO/
and Asrock is the Fatal1ty Z87 Professional http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Fatal1ty%20Z87%20Professional/
A new contender has just come in under $300 and that's the Asrock Z87 OC Formula http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z87%20OC%20Formula/

Hi. Get the Asus Z87-PRO. It's even greater than the GA-Z87X-UD5H and it's rich in VRM. Asus and Gigabyte mobos are famous for their reliability and durability.
You said you are not much of a overclocker, so ASRock Z87 OC Formula is wasting of money. Also, Asus Z87-PRO gives you everything you need for a clean overclocking.

Note that haswell CPU's are not as good as SandyBrdige and IvyBrdige in overclocking and they overheat so you need a good cooling system, but still you can't do much of overclocking on your haswell.

You're welcome. You can search for Asus 5X protection and Gigabyte Ultra Durable 5 technology to find out more about great durability of these 2 brands. Asus Z87-PRO has lots of features and it's the best choice for you.
If you got what you need, mark the topic as solved by choosing the best answer:)
