Haven't been able to find a 30" replacement. Anyone using 4k monitors? Wondering about buying a cheap 4k tv...?

As with them all, my hxd 3000 failed after a while. I have been fixing it repeatedly with suggested forum solutions, but it's just always falling back to problems. Wondering about trying out a 4k monitor as some are as cheap as $500. Does a 4k tv have a 2560x1600 setting? Anyone using it as a pc monitor for gaming???

Thanks.

no offense, but do you really think there is no difference between any of the big brands doing 4K and a cheap/no-name one?
500$ will normally not even get a high end 1440/1600p display.
for the no-name tvs, dont even bother. unless they get a native (4k) signal, they look horrible (cable/tv, BD in 1080).
as monitor-only its better, since you can run a 4k resolution (for the desktop) on a decent gpu.
gaming looks different...

I'm not looking for a tv, just a monitor I can run high resolution gaming on. I'm replacing a 30" monitor, so I am running dual gpu's and used to native 2560x1600. I can't find anything useful at all in the 30" monitor market.
