Well your CPU and Motherboard aren't compatible for starters. Your CPU is socket LGA 1155 and your Motherboard is socket LGA 1150- They need to match.

is there anything else that can be fixed? What do yo think about the gpu? I am willing to get a geforce instead of the amd if there is a better alternative around the same price

Is the build mostly for gaming? and do you plan to OC?

gaming..thats all im going to do with that pc.i dont know much about that subject so id say no im not planning to overclock. If i were to overclock what would prevent me to do so with this build?

Ok. Your original CPU was a Intel Core i5-3570K. The 'K' means it's OCable, which you don't need since you don't intend to OC. And I just realised what your budget is! Give me a bit of time and I'll give you a better build, but you will be a bit restricted with that budget.

Here is a sub-&1000 build. I didn't have that much time to research so this is just a rough idea!

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2cy7U

Few things to bear in mind though:
1)You would massively benefit from investing in an SSD (Solid State Drive), even if it's just for your Operating System, it will really speed up your PC.
2) The CPU comes with a stock cooler which will do the job, but you might want to think about getting an after-market one though.
3)There are no extra case fans included in this build. The case comes with 3, but a couple more would be a good idea with that 770.

Sorry that I don't have time for more detailed advice, hope this helps!

i made some few changes..i changed the cpu to Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 4000 BX80637I53570K because i figured a i5 cpu with turbo boost will benefit me more than an i7 cpu without one. I also changed the ram because egg was out of stock. i aso included the os which i left out. Now with a cpu thats incompatible with my original MOBO im stuck. Any suggestions on that? BTW i think the Black Friday Sale ends this weekend so you have more time to think of a better build. Ultimately i think im going to have to increase it to 1000-1300$.

There was no i7 in the build, it was an i5-4570 (which does have TB up to 3.6GHz). It has similar performance to an i5-3570K (which has slightly better power consumption but is (simply) last generation).

Post the updated permalink so we can see what you changed

MSI Z77A-G45 Intel 7 Series Motherboard - ATX, Socket H2 (LGA1155), Intel Z77 Express, 2667MHz DDR3 (O.C.), SATA III (6Gb/s), RAID, 8-CH Audio, Gigabit LAN, USB 3.0, PCIe 3.0, SLI/CrossFireX Ready

ASRock Z77 Extreme6 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

ASUS P8Z77-V PRO LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

which should i choose? they all have some really bad reviews with the lifespan, bios problems, defectability, etc. does that mean i should move up to the z87 series although they are pretty expensive
