Exploring new MB & CPU - no gaming

I have an old CPU & MB. Win7 is giving issues on it. WinXp dosent seem a good idea, considering no support beyond April 14. Security is already a concern with XP!

So am exploring the option of a decent MB & CPU.
No major load...Just Browsing, Movies and stuff. No gaming.

Looking for a low cost reliable one. (Pls give multiple suggestions. I live in India and prices may differ)

An basic LGA1155/LGA1150 motherboard with a Intel pentium would be decent enough
Or get a FM1 motherboard and a AMD APU

APU is the video Card a good VC is a 512 MB or 1 GB

An A8 series APU from AMD would be plenty for your needs. A10 has a better GPU, but you don't need it.

APU is an AMD cpu with the graphics (GPU) on the same chip. A dedicated GPU can be Geforce or AMD/ATI.

oh ok everyone knows now APU meens AMD and GPU meens any VIDEO CARD i know it sounds waird for this thread but oh well

CPU = just a CPU or processor by itself
GPU= just a video chip or card / GPU by itself
APU= Both a CPU and GPU together on a single chip

i had a look at some cpu's from A8 series and LGA 1155.
The A8 series have 4 cores. Do i really need 4 cores for browsing and watching movies???
Some of em cost almost twice of Intel G2020 or Intel G2010.

How do these compare to the A8 ones? Do i need a Graphics card?

Well the extra graphics power of the A8 series would help in HD movies and video quite a bit.
You don't NEED 4 cores but they might be useful one day although for your needs the pentium G2010 would still be good.
And no, both intel and AMD comes with their own graphics solution.
