I'm looking at upgrading the video card on this machine, mostly to play some newer games.

Asus M4A77TD motherboard
Athlon X2 240 CPU
2 gigs RAM
Windows XP 32-bit
GeForce 7800 GT

I want to spend under a hundred bucks, on a card that I can put into my next budget gaming rig (which I'll piece together over the next few months). So it has to work in this old dinosaur, as well as still be good enough for a newer machine.

Any suggestions? I haven't built a system in years (my last one was this one) and I'm not at all up-to-date on current tech. NewEgg has a GT 640 2GB for $95 that looks good, but I don't even know if it will work in this machine.

It will have some bottleneck issues. If you have an avalable PCI 2.0 slot and an adequate power supply for the new card, then a GT 640 or GTX 650 is reasonable.
