Hey guys,

So I want to build a cheap gaming rig that is yet powerful enough to play some of the latest titles.
My budget is relatively low (maybe 400-500€) however i will be able to stretch that soon to maybe 800€.

My friend is offering me to sell me his old (not perfectly sure what models the hardware is)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570;
AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 965 Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.6GHz;
asrock 890fx deluxe3;
and 8gigs of kingston ram
for roughly 230€

Now i know that thats a good deal however, do you think that its worth getting those parts? He has been using them for maybe 2-3 years and the cpu has been overclocked by a bit for almost 2 years. Which of the new titles would i be able to play and how long would it be until the hardware is completely outdated.

I havnt build a pc in a loooooong time hence im seeking some advise (been playing on a gaming laptop for the last 5 years).

I also have an old NZXT Lexa lying around that i never got to use, that i could probably use to put this rig together.

Is it worth buying those parts and building a rig around it or does it make more sense saving up more money to get a i5 and maybe a slightly newer graphics card?

I have a 27" ips led that runs at 1080p.

Thank you for hearing me out,
Phil

You could play new titles pretty well. Most likely at medium settings or a mix of medium and high.

Just update the BIOS and throw in an fx-6300. Then upgrade the GPU in a year or whenever you see the need.

It's good upgrade the cpu and change the graphic card whenever you can

Thank you for the replies, since the parts are 2nd hand and because they will fall behind soon do you think 230€ is fair or could i press for 150€, or would that be way to low to even consider?

Try to go as cheap as you can. Start at 150 and try to get him to 180-200ish.
