AMD FX8350 8 Core Vs Intel Core i5-3570K 3rd Generation?

Hi, I currently have an AMD FX4100 Quad Core 3.6GHz CPU, which is good, but I want to upgrade. Which should I go for? I've heard AMD have an edge over newer games and rendering, not sure if that is true. Another thing, I have an ASRock 960GM/U3S3 FX AM3+, and this does not support either CPU's. Which board should I go for?

according to the ASRock website the motherboard only supports 95W FX CPUs like the FX8300

the Intel CPU will no work at all since it uses a different Socket (1155) and the motherboard has an AM3+ socket

For the AMD you could go with a M5A97 R2.0, M5A99X, GA-970A-UD3, GA-990FXA-UD3.

Also you could save some money and get an FX 8320 for less $. It's the same chip as the 8350, just clocked lower at stock. You can easily overclock it to 8350 speeds just by changing the multiplier.

grab the fx 8320 or fx 8350..fx 8320 is down clocked fx 8350, which you can overclock to 4ghz to change it to FX 8350, and fx 8320>i5 3570k in most current games you might also look at these benchmarks to decide..

Thanks, but this motherboard would mean buying RAM again too because it supports SDRAM which I don't have (That's what Amazon said, but when I clicked on the link you posted, it doesn't say SDRAM?)

If this is a gaming build, Intel will always be better. But if it's for video rendering etc then the fx will be fine for both
