I was recruited by my brother-in-law to build him a PC designed for streaming and gaming. I built a few systems about 5 years ago and the most recent one 2 years ago, so I am not as up to date with all of the system components.

As a general setup, I used PCpartpicker to illustrate the build I was thinking of.

What are your thoughts on this build? The max budget is $2,000.

I know the AM3+ socket is basically dead, but the one listed should still prove useful for quite some time right?

All comments are appreciated.

There is no need for a case or motherboard of that price! (unless he wants to overclock) I think you should replace the Mobo and the CPU for the Intel Haswell Core i7 (which there are many different models) which at the moment is one of the best gaming/multitasking processors around.

Not sure what you mean the AM3+ socket is dead, but as games need to utilize more cores, AMD chips with 8 cores may be better then say a 4670k in a few years. Personally with a 2k budget you may consider a 4770k as I'm sure it'll fit in quite nicely.

I would personally just get a 8320 and OC it, as a 8350 is basically a Overclocked 8320 but costs more. But its your choice, I added in a CPU cooler for some OCing. Changed the 780ti to the non reference design as you can OC that better.

Changed your ram to something cheaper but same performance. 16GB is alot for just gaming and streaming but I'll leave that up to you. Added in a SSD as most builds in this price range will benefit from its fast speeds.

I also changed your PSU, to something cheaper atm and is fully modular and 80+ platnium. You also didn't need 800watts for 1 single card. I think 700 watts is still more then enough for this build, but this PSU is same price as I compared it to a 650 watt 80+ gold from Corsair RM.
