Thanks for the info, but this leaves me confused as I received the following message

Hello wfocc,
Your thread "Fax Console error when sending multiple pages - XP" has been removed from Tom's Hardware. Please be sure to comply with the Rules of Conduct and guidelines for posting.

I don't see where my 12/03/13 post did not comply and I find the post is still present on the forum so it looks like it was not removed. Why did I receive that "removed" message?

What's the link to it?

You received the message because a duplicate of this thread :- http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-1919887/fax-co... was deleted.

^ About to say, more than likely it was a duplicate that got deleted, hence why you can see it still there, that's the one that wasnt culled.

Thanks to both Mousemonkey & manofchalk for your replies.
If only the "Forum" reply had said that in the begining, my post on this question would not have been needed. Thanks again for your help!

It was requested that Moderation are more descriptive when editing/deleting posts on the initial feedback and feature requests thread when this version of the forum went live.
As your post shows it does lead to confusion at times.

However it was considered by some of the moderation team that this amounted to asking Moderation to justify their actions and received very short shrift from those in charge.

The message wfocc got is automated, we don't make them. I agree that if a post is deleted under duplicate (when you delete a thread it prompts to pick a reason, one of which is duplicate) that message either shouldn't be sent or is altered to reflect that they haven't broken any rules.

Quite simply its above us moderators, that kind of change is up to the site Dev's and they are pretty busy. Its in the list of things to be done, dont worry.

Thank you for the explanation.
That's easily the most informative post I have received during this whole role out.

I might have to bump the thread I posted about this exact problem and see if there's been any movement on it. Simply including the reason for the deletion in the PM rather than a generic "obey or pay" message would suffice.

It might help to remember that most regular and valued posters will never see such a message - the majority of those who do see that message are either seasoned Spammers or not even human at all but just Bots coded to spam our Forum. Personally I would prefer not to tell the Spammers because that just leads them to create another account and do it all again.

Given that, the Dev Team might not consider it worth coding to amend the message. I'm not saying they won't do it but it is just a possibility.

Spammers will create another account and do it all again regardless. That's what they get paid for after all.

Something I asked for in a feedback thread as well but it got shot down.
