3 monitor setup with two gpu

i have two radeon 7870 crossfired and i have two monitors hooked to the main one ( one monitor using hdmi, other using hdmi to DP) and then i was trying to connect my other moniter (dvi connection) to my second gpu. the problem is that whatever monitor i choose to plug into the second gpu does not get detected at all.

You can't use the second gpu's outputs in cf.

is it possible to hook up all three to one? also i have a coverter from hdmi to mDP not the a DP

Yes, the 7870 can support three displays, but one will have to come off the display port. The DVIs and HDMI should be able to handle the other two.
