After long years, I finally bought myself a GPU, a GTX 770. I want to use this card for gaming on my TV.

My TV's model is LG 32LC42. I use Windows 8.1.

Windows recommends me to use 1360x768 screen resolution. When I try to make it 1920x1080, picture does not seem okay, so I currently use 1360x768.

I think in order to take full benefit from my new GPU, I should play games on high resolutions, preferably 1920x1080, which means HD. However it seems that my TV does not support such resolution and I should buy a new TV with such resolution for this purpose. Is this correct?

If so, how can I be sure that my new TV supports this resolution?

Is there anything special to consider when buying a TV for this purpose (as a PC monitor for gaming and internet usage)?

Thank you for your answers.

Yup, you do need a new TV. Basically modern TVs has HDMI so you'll be good to go, Just make sure that the new TV you'll be buying is a FULL HD TV.

For picture quality, it would be your preference i suppose. There are added features like 3D that you might be looking into as well.
