Hello again,

Basically what the title says. Is there a considerable performance boost between these 2 cards? And is it worth upgrading to? or is CF 7950 a better option. I'm just reaching out on the possibilities of upgrading my GPU (7950), if it even needs upgrading.

Hope someone can clarify me on this. Thanks lots.

your existing video card is still quite good and is almost near in performance to a 280x. I'd suggest holding off the upgrade maybe until the next generation of radeon cards. 290x is fairly new and will need sometime for the various makers to iron out the kinks. The price should drop sometime in the next few months.

Considering the price of the 290X, it's a preetty rough edge there. Heard there were problems on it too. My 7950 is fairly new too, only half a year old so i guess i'm still in the clear eh? Thanks much.

1920x1080 resolution, but who knows I might get a new monitor sometime next year, which could be higher res or the same.

As for the specs, i'm getting an i5 4670k, Sabertooth z87, 4x4gb Vengeance, 860w AX PSU with the cosmosII case, and still using my current 7950. Most games I play are MMOs.

If you want the cheapest upgrade you could add a second 7950 but if all you play is MMOs i don't think you will need that much graphics power compared to CPU

Yeah figured that was the case. This 7950 is still a great card for HD gaming. I'm gonna wait until a new series of GPU comes along someday and it might be worth the upgrade then.

my HD 7950 is one year old already now... and its still a kickass card!! it can run BF4 and Crysis3 in ultra settings smoothly with fx 8350 cpu. i am happy with it so i will just take care of it so it can last up to 3-4 more years before i upgrade.. i suggest you to stay with your 7950 or you can just buy another 7950 for 2 way crossfire but as we all know CF has lots of issues like heat and microstuttering.

so just stay with it unless you are planning to have a multimonitor.

Lol I'd always preferred single-card setups, but CF is just an optional choice I had in mind, for an uber beast system (yeah right). But yeah, 7950 can stand by itself against any games out there atm. Prolly won't change till the next gen of GPUs arrive.
