Hi,With the release of SteamOS today, I was wondering if you need powerful hardware on your steam box to take advantage of game streaming, or if you only need something simple like a laptop. I would assume that'd work, as the content would be rendered on the main pc and streamed to the laptop, right? Thanks.

Nobody really knows at this point because nobody has been able to get their hands on it and run it yet, we only have what Valve has been telling people. There will be more information as time goes by and people actually get to run it. Everything so far is just pure speculation. There are rumors that it will need a lot of RAM, but we'll just have to see.

This is not the final release either, more of a beta. They will have a more complete version sometime in mid January.

I kind of misspoke... I think the large RAM requirements was for Windows machines that are going to be used as the stream "server", not the machine that would receive the stream (SteamOS).

Who knows though. It hasn't been released yet, and what does get released won't be the final product.
