Good morning, afternoon, or evening.

I am have been doing some research on DLSR and I am on the verge of getting on but I am on the fence to which. Currently I am down to three choices for different levels.

1) Nikon D3200 Bundle Kit (from Sam's) with two lenses.($679)
http://www.samsclub.com/sams/nikon-d3200-2-lens-bundle-...

2) Nikon D5200 Bundle kit (From Sam's) with same two lenses. ($929)
http://www.samsclub.com/sams/nikon-d5200-2-lens/prod907...

3) Nikon D7100 Body Only from work friend.

Each at three different levels and I have a budget of $1000, but I want to get the most bang for my buck and not get something that I wont use most of the features.

Any help, advice, opinions, comments etc would be awesome.

Thanks!!!!

Hi daniel - if your work friend is someone you trust, I would take the D7100 deal (if the price is right). Even as a beginner, the D7100 will be a smarter investment than buying a lower end camera and upgrading later.

Good luck and best of the holidays!

Sorry meant to put that in there. He has it for $950 which by the time get some added accessories I will be way over budget, main reason I am hesitant with that deal.

Thanks!

You're right. That's a pretty high price when you can get a manufacturer refurbished D7100 with a warranty for $915.

I would stay away from those D3200/D5200 kit lens bundles, though. Plastic camera bodies and low-end glass.

If you don't mind going $24 over budget, I would get the $915 refurb'd D7100 and a Nikkor 50mm f1.8D lens (on sale for $109 right now at Amazon).

This will give you a high quality all metal body that will last you a lifetime and a classic lens with a manual aperture ring. This combination will produce great images and will provide a solid foundation to build upon if you decide to take your photography to the next level.

Again, hope this is helpful!
