Does redeeming the code for a free game from geforce download the installer?

I have a code from GeForce for a free gae that came with my GTX 780....Will this code provide me with the installer for the game so that I can then install it on a different hard drive when I feel like getting a new hard drive, because I can only redeem it once??....Im new to PC gaming so I dont know much about these things

Depends. Most are games through Steam, so Steam will download/install and then the game(s) will install. You can initially choose where to install Steam and all other Steam games will install into that directory.

Once you make an account and download the game it will be tied to your account so make sure that you have a copy of your name and password, if you change PC's all you need is your user name and password and then you can re-download and install the game to the new PC.
