Hello, I'm not being able to find any guidelines on using the forum.
Things like -
- Am I able to or allowed to close/open my own threads?
- How do I untrack threads that're closed? They drive me nuts in my tracked threads page!
- Under which circumstances do I contact a moderator?

If there is a guide that clears all this up then that'll be a help.

Thanks.

Hey, looks like my account has been hacked. When did I select yours as the best answer? It says 02:52, and I was sleeping at GMT 02:52!
I've unselected it.
No disrespect, but the link you provided is of no help.
I've already gone through all those guidelines.

Pretty benine hacking if you ask me

To answer your questions directly.
- You can create your own threads without any special permissions. You can select a BA in them, which effectively closes it as people probably wont answer anymore and it will sink to the bottom. You can ask a Mod to hard close a thread if you want.
- On the OP of a thread there is an option to untrack a thread, meaning you wont get any notifications about it. Not sure if this removes it from your tracked threads page though.
- Pretty much whenever you feel its necessary. A couple times I have received PM's from users drawing attention to some dispute happening in a thread. The general way of reporting this kind of thing is through the "Report Abuse" button, a moderator will see the notification and investigate.
Though we are willing to help, dont single us out to solicit tech advice from, its better that you create a thread and get input from the community.

Thanks for the information.
The problem with untracking the thread is that once it's closed, then the option 'stop tracking this thread' is no longer available(who would want to track a closed thread?), so the thread remains permanently in my tracked threads page, which has well over 50 threads.

I dont think you can remove a thread from your tracked thread page, though I dont see how that's a problem. All the ones with fresh responses will rise to the top.

Maybe yeah, but some of the threads I've saved are real hilarious, so it's kind of a review place for those threads, and the threads that are done with and probably not going to be touched for another 6 months are removed from there.
Anyway, thanks for your time and responses.

Save the thread URL in a text file. Occasionally threads are dregged up from 2005, the thread itself isnt going anywhere.
