This is my first self-built computer and i'm looking for people's thoughts on my choices. I'm not going for the best or highest quality build, but really one that works fairly well. So give me your thoughts.

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Processor: AMD FX-6300 Vishera 3.5GHz (4.1GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 95W Six-Core Desktop Processor FD6300WMHKBOX

for $30 more i would go with a fx-8320.

(Yes, i know i don't NEED this)Sound Card: Creative SB X-Fi Xtreme Audio (70SB104000000) 7.1 Channels 24-bit 96KHz PCI Express x1 Interface Sound Card

your choice... and likely better than integrated on that particular board.

Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL

i would suggest 2x4gb (8gb total). 4gb is a bit light.

Case: Thermaltake Commander Series VN40006W2N White / Black SECC ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

your choice

Video Card: ASUS GTX760-DC2OC-2GD5 GeForce GTX 760 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

is gtx760 enough for your gaming needs? what games what res?

Case Fan:Noctua NF-P12-1300 120mm Case Fans

Power Supply:EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 750 B 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified 750W Active PFC ATX12V v2.31/EPS 12V v2.91 5 Year Warranty 120-PB-0750-KR SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular NEW 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready Power Supply

no need to go 750w really... unless you were going to sli/crossfire (without overclocking) or do some rather heavy overclocks (with one gpu) on everything. i would go with xfx or seasonic before i would buy evga psus.

what was your total budget?

what are your thoughts on this?

My main budget i was thinking would be around $1000. As to the gaming question, I was more thinking to at least run games such as BF4, Assassin's Creed 4, or Bioshock Infinite on Medium or so graphics. And the 8320 does seem like a better idea. But the reason i'm going with a 750w power supply is because in case i do want to take the time to overclock i have the option of doing that without having to buy a new power supply (as far as i know). And what is the difference exactly between GeForce and Radeon Cards?

a 650w psu would allow moderate overclocking of the 8320 and moderate overclocking of a gpu. stepping up to a 700-750w isnt a bad idea though

a r9-280x gets you into the realm of ultra on bf4 (at 45-50fps) or higher frames on medium.
