Lenovo Z500 or Y510p?

Okay, I'm really new to getting a laptop (the laptop I first bought, I bought blindly -- meaning I am barely informed about the specs of the unit), and as much as I would love to simply compare specs, I don't exactly know how to compare them.

I'm looking towards getting either a Lenovo Z500 and a Y510p, mostly going to be used for photoshopping and some mild gaming (prepping for Sims 4, I guess). So, here are the stats of the two:

Lenovo IdeaPad Z500
15.6in.
i5 3230M, 2.6GHz Ivy
4Gb RAM
1Tb
nVidia GF 740m 2Gb

Lenovo Y510p
15.6" FHD LED Matte 1920x1080
4th Generation Intel Core i5-4200M Processor (2.40GHz 1600MHz 6MB)
NVIDIA GeForce GT750M GDDR5 2GB
8.0GB PC3-12800 DDR3L SDRAM 1600 MHz
1TB 5400 RPM+8GB SSD

Obviously, this isn't just comparing numbers, but I'm guessing the 510p is better than the Z500 because of:
- Screen resolution, FullHD
- Graphics card
- Processor
- RAM
- HDD
- Backlit keyboard
- Maintenance hatch
- Ultrabay (not sure what option the shop's giving out for this, I looked at the specs and it said: Optical Device: Ultrabay SLI Graphics - NVIDIA GeForce GT750M GDDR5 2GB, so I'm guessing that's the one)

So, is my comparison correct? And can someone elaborate further in my stead? Also, how can I determine the said specs above when I'm testing/checking the unit (is it just through device manager), and how can I tell if the unit has an Ivy/Haswell processor?

i5 is a dual core and i7 is a quad core but since the 750m on the Y510p is better than the 740m on the Z500, the Y510p will perform better in gaming (plus, it has the newest generation i5). There are no options listed here with an i7 processor though, so I am not sure what you are comparing.

Sorry, looks like I posted the wrong specs! Anyway, here's the specs of the i7 Z510:

LENOVO Z510
15.6 LED
CORE I7 4702QM (2.2GHZ)
4G DDR3
1TB SATA
NVIDIA GT740M

Again, against the Y510P:
Lenovo Y510p
15.6" FHD LED Matte 1920x1080
4th Generation Intel Core i5-4200M Processor (2.40GHz 1600MHz 6MB)
NVIDIA GeForce GT750M GDDR5 2GB
8.0GB PC3-12800 DDR3L SDRAM 1600 MHz
1TB 5400 RPM+8GB SSD

The Y510p will still outperform the Z500 because its got MUCH better graphics than the Z500. Plus, in gaming the processor isn't nearly as important as the graphics
