Gaming on 1920x1080 feels smoother than 1680x1050. Why?

My rig:
FX-6300 4GHZ
HD 7850 2GB (OC'd to match 7870 performance.)
2X4GB DDR3 1600.

I have a 1680x1050 monitor.

I tried using my Sony Bravia TV, and hooked it up to my PC and played BF4 in 1080p.

I used fraps to display the framerates and I actually am having the same framerates as with the 1680x1050 monitor.

BUT, it feels alot smoother.

Why?

In BF4 the setting under resolution is 1920x1080 59HZ. I assume that's 60.
My 1050 monitor is also 60hz

I think its a 480z

your tv has a 240hz refresh rate.....that is the reason why every thing appears real smooth.
