Updating my system, need help.

I'm looking to buy an R9 280X, but my current motherboard doesn't support it. I have an i5-2500K CPU with 16GB DDR3 RAM. What motherboard should I buy to run the R9 280X??

what motherboard do you have currently? r9 280x pcie 3.0 is backwards compatibile with 2.1 and 2.0

Your motherboard will work with amd 280x, because pcie 3.0 is backwards compatibile with pcie 2.0

PCIE 3.0 Cards don't run to full standard as they would on a PCIE 3 motherboard. It'll be like putting a Ferrari Engine inside a Cop Car

Only crossfire takes advantage of pcie3. not many cards actually outspec pcie2
