Hello, I have a Lenovo Y510p notebook. It has a hybrid SSHD with a 1 TB hard drive and a 24 GB SSD. I wondered if i could put windows 8 on the SSD and store everything else on the HDD, if Windows 8 could fix on that SSD would it minimize boot up time a lot? And how would I put it on there and make windows know where it is?
Thanks.
Charn.

While you can its certainly not recommended. Windows 8 needs 20gb and that will fill your drive when you consider formatting losses and over-provisioning. This wouldn't leave you any room so you will have to be diligent in moving all the space eating processes off the SSD (like updates, program data, everything user releated...)

Your SSD should be in use as a cache drive thus giving you the fastest boot you are going to get so you will see no difference in boot times.

How would you install to the SSD? go into the bios and change your sata type from raid to AHCI save and exit and reinstall windows 8. The SSD will now show up as a drive to install to.
